Playing with my DSLR

Today I saw an amazing pin on Pinterest, 8 tutorials to get beautiful holiday photos, I was all over that! I highly recommend checking out this website if you are too scared to switch your expensive camera to any other setting than Auto. I've been meaning to figure out my camera for over a year now, but just never got inspired to, until now! I mean wow, after reading along to the tutorials above, I guess it's not that hard afterall. Just takes some practice. I'm totally doing that Bokeh Christmas Tree photo!

Anyways, here are some photos I took today playing around with Aperture and Shutter settings. Some on auto focus and some on manual focus.





My models were Sami the dog and Mickey Mouse and Max the stuffed animals lol

Can't wait to take my new knowledge outside and take pictures of Mason in action! I'm excited to take photos for the holidays too and for the Christmas card. :)

My son Mason who is 3 years old (almost 4), wanted to be Optimus Prime for Halloween. He has been watching Transformers Rescue Bots for a few years now, so I knew I wanted to make the Rescue Bots version. I have made his last two Halloween costumes and I was really excited to make this one! Project Organize: Home Office

Recently, I decided I would take on the task of organizing our home. I am getting there slowly, but surely. The first (almost) completed project on my organizing to do list is my home office. I say almost because I still need to polyurethane the desk and put the new knobs on it. Other than that, it's completed and I couldn't wait to take pictures of it and share it! :) It was also great lighting this morning with the sun coming in through the windows, so I grabbed my camera and started shooting. I should also mention, we are almost done with a complete mudroom makeover, so stay tuned for a Mudroom Tour post! :) First, I'll show you the old desk area (picture taken June 2010). We inherited this desk from Michael's sister Laura and I painted it white and spray painted the knobs yellow (to match the chair, duh!). Nursery Tour

The nursery isn't completely done yet, but I figure I can just add to this post or create a new post when we finish. We still need to: Make the crib skirt. I have all the materials, I just need to get motivated and make it! Put up the Chirpie Tree decal on the wall, which we are waiting to be delivered. Other than those 2 things, we are done! Without further ado, here is Mason Charles Buckley's nursery: View from the hallway as you walk in. The far wall will be where we put the Chirpie Tree decal. I used Photoshop to put the decal into the photo.
